I wrote this for English...didn't get a positive response. It's a spin-off of a poem by Nikki Giovanni, as the title most likely insinuates. Yes, it will offend some (I'm sorry. I'm a cynical bastard, and I was born that way...live with it).


Nikki Giovanni Spin-off (Paint Me American)

I know that... Growing up is a throw of the dice,
Especially when hypocritical, conflicting opinions,
Threaten to drive you insane.


I believe that... God is NOT the answer to every problem
Or question
And the Facism
Of Evangelical Christianity
Is not the only choice of religion
Despite what the 700 Club says.


It's true that... Right -wing Representatives are
Historically more popular,
But it signals ineptitude to say,
That they are unconditionally
The better choice.


It's UNDOUBTABLE that... We are destroying ourselves
Global Warming comes knocking
What's Daddy's Boy going to do?


Paint me Pessimistic... Paint me a Killjoy... Paint me a wet blanket...

I care not...

I'm an American.
Sadly.
Destructively.
But Defensively.
