In a Childs eyes

When I was a child
I used to run in the grass
hoping for the day to forever last

When I was a child
I wandered round happily screaming
my soul did forever make sound

When I was a child
I was filled with fantasy and dreams
And beyond all fairytales I wandered in thought

When I was a child
the world seemed so large yet free
And I let life encapture me

But they say 'grass is greener'
on the other side but hesitate
is it because it is not the truth?

Because I found out
I know what life really is now
you see

I am older now
I don't have to run in the grass
I don't have to pretend there's a fairytale

So now I am walking in different times
and none of the times rhyme

Is there a puzzle to solve
is there one to solve at all

Is this the time of our lives
or does life take the time from us

When I was a child
It was the time of my life
life is so simple
in a childs eyes...

Kathy Lockhart
how quickly our childhood ends. I love the imagery of this poem especially during those wonderful carefree days of childhood. It was beautiful. Your description of our childhood ideals are real and so are your revelations of growing up.
Nicely done. Kathy

Through history's all ages, people have been wondering about the meaning of existence, of time, of life. The theme of this poem is truly universal and your way of expressing it is bound to touch many hearts and minds!

This is just so beautiful and shockingly real to my mind. I always feel my child is still rebelling and resisting the world. Still yearning for the freedom lost.
