Not Nearly Enough

My birthday is coming fast,
Another year is in the books.
Getting older is rather easy.
Not as hard as it looks.
Days go by one at a time,
Some are fun, some are tough.
Yes, I've lived for many days
But, not nearly enough.

Not nearly enough
I keep wanting more.
I can't wait to see
What life has in store.
Planned down to every detail
Or completely off the cuff.
I've been around a long time
But not nearly enough.

I've known quite a few ladies.
I have loved one or three.
No matter who they were,
They left their mark on me.
Some stayed for a long time,
Some left in a huff.
Yes. I've known a few ladies
But not nearly enough.

Not nearly enough
I keep wanting more
I can't wait to see
What life has in store.
Planned down to every detail
Or completely off the cuff.
I've known a few ladies
But not nearly enough.

The world needs more laughter.
It's so good for the soul.
It helps to lighten up the load
Keeps things under control.
A day without laughter
Makes life a bit too rough.
I have had a lot of laughs,
But not nearly enough.

Not nearly enough
I keep wanting more.
I can't wait to see
What life has in store.
Planned down to every detail
Or completely off the cuff.
I've had a lot of laughs,
But not nearly enough.
