Evening
A quiet hello to discover you're asleep on our bedA half eaten pie on the kitchen counter the gift I made for you earlier
The lights on like you just suddenly fell asleep
But didn't plan to
You are the silent welcome when I come home
I tiptoe around the house to put away dinner
And turn off lights
Quiet time for myself after a noisy dinner with friends
You are the welcome silence when I come home
I slip in beside you and cuddle up
Like I was always there
And slip away into sleep to the rhythm of your breath
You are the welcoming home I can find silence in
