The Old Man by Ann Wood

He is an old man.
Living with Dementia.
He is in a nursing home.
Alone. Asking for help.
He is crying, And through his tears, He smiles.
He is an old man, Who is lonely and sad, All because of, Dementia.

This evening I read the poem to the man about I was wrote this poem. I tell to him it is about you and he start crying with happiness that someone still remember him and care about him. I was touched from his reaction to my poem. It was make me happy and sad at same time.

I know dementia my granny had it for the last ten years of her life she did not know who she was anymore and did not recognize her own sons. I thank you for writing this poem. Namaste.
