My walk through a road in Africa

She yelled my name and I answered
Her reluctantly,i carried the keg
Moving out of my gate with lights
Flashing from the streets.

As I moved to the muddy road
I hit a chick and it went unconscious
I staggered around and its mother charged
At me I moved far away from it.

I saw a group of women murmuring among themselves
I wondered what they were saying.
I did't look I hit a giant and he frowed,
I apologized but he continued to pour abuses.

As crossed to the next street
I saw naked children running and shouting
Carrying sticks and it pointing at themselves
Making the sound pou pou pou!!!
I wondered what they were doing

Suddenly came a boy,singing
loudly not minding the environment
He moved zigzag shouting and displaying-
I think the way the musician did
when he was singing the song-the boy went past.

I smelt a strong odour I had to cover my nose
I heard a woman speaking in the native language
"They've started sucking that thing"
Again I wondered what thing

I reached my destination I bought the watery thing.
As I moved to my house gently
I saw a group of men rejoicing
They drank large green bottles which
I could smell from where I walked.

One came ,staggered and hit me hard.
That made me walk hastily to my house
With darkness flashing from the streets.
She was happy to collect it
And I had to discuss with him on what i have seen.

Onyeka Nwelue
That is how African women behave. They like pouring abuses...

This is sweetly written.
