Sometimes, Everything Is About Water

Sometimes, everything is about water

Its heaviness

Its ability to suffocate--to drown

down

deep

in

its darkness--the unknown

where all the possibilites of

the unseen monsters, hiding below, waiting

to feed upon me...

Oh the weight of it is crushing the breath of life from me

until I become the blackest bottom of the sea

Water is everything, everywhere

Then pooling, streaming, flowing, rising, rushing, gushing

I need it, desire it, I drink it down without fear, now

for I am water and I am intoxicated without it

Shall I sink or shall I sail upon this ocean of life and death

All life sails to death in the time of water.

The journey weighs heavy, but sure.

An interesting poem. I especially liked the first line.

Water is the stuff of life and sometimes of death. This piece is laced with disappointments and doubt. I like the way it is structured and the ongoing theme. Oh and the line "All life sails to death in the time of water. " is brilliant.

We love it/dislike it, but we can't do without it, I have a healthy respect for it, but the power it can hold scares me, especially recently with the rains and flooding in parts of the world. The final two lines ring true.

Kathy you are so right and your portrayal is very unique.
I hadn't thought of the breadth of water's command of us.
There is a powerful tug of sensuality in your poem and it strikes, pulls one in and overwhelms but it also inspirits!
Incredible work that I will return to many times!:)

Well done, Kathy. But don't go near
the water. We don't want to lose you.

Most of pur planet consists of water, and we can't live without it, but it's power can be a frightening thing. Right now, when it rages upon us it is exactly as you say. Vivid descriptions.

As a sailor, water is my element my home my scape. You've described it in ingenious ways that are very intimate. Great work, Kathy.
