through a mother's eyes...
The Kiss of Torment
Broken shards of a life
sharp, stark, and scorned
pierce the veins of desperation,
injecting a suicidal form.
Cold winds blow the future
a whispered voice of pain.
Heads nodding in supplication
and the body floats away again.
The streets like a river
flow with the blood of death.
Sellers and buyers of poison
liars and tryers in one breath.
Back home awaits your family
with hearts drained to stone.
Tears and fears are depleted
but our love is never gone.
Compassion is the motive
but that hunger, it is the greed.
And the user takes the giver
for every ounce to fix the need.
A drowning, spiraling eddy
into the depths of the abyss
can pull both child and mother
with heroin's evil kiss.
