the mocha girl

the mocha girl
with long legs
dressed in the red dress
that came below her knees
bent down and
scooped up
a cigarette butt
from the ground

(she was wearing a fedora
and she was barefoot)

at the same time,
a professional
asian businesses man
ran across the road

(he was wearing a bluetooth device
and he was on a long distance
business call -
he was also wearing a cowboy hat)

a boy on the playground
gets being bullied -
seeds of suicide,
planted
in the child's
uninitiated mind

easy targets
are the first
to get hit:
this is true
in darts,
robberies,
and on the playground

the pain of the mentally
and physically
oppressed
beats
the human potential
into unionized
threats of crimes
conformity
with no
visible
escape in site

union is found
through long halls
of darkened exploration

the mind was never intended to be a blank slate

formations of suicide rumination
growing in the mind
like a brain cancer

the mind was never intended to be a blank slate

Great title, the line " the mind was never intended to be a blank slate" says it all and gives me food for thought.

This is so sad and unfortunately so accurate of human behavior. A wonderful piece of writing. Not a single word was wasted in this poem, each word full of meaning and substance.
Well done.
Ashe
P.S. I love your choice of color to describe the girl.*

Clear, concise and wonderfully descriptive. But also very impacting.
