Aging

Life is ongoing
speeding up,
perception of time
different and short,
age, but a number
has significance,
the mirror, I've found
doesn't lie,
everything heads south,
hair in all the wrong places
or diminishing,
looking backwards
is a long way,
distance and remembering,
youth used to be me,
brain ticking over
thankfully,
working.

I don't really mind aging as such, I do dread the thought of mind and body leaving the essence of me - Remember, you are beautiful whatever direction the body may go - what is inside is what really matters, well written

I see very few redeeming qualities noted here about aging. Rather depressing, but quite true.

That's exactly what it is like. If we were cars they could put our brain up on a hoist and put another body underneath :)

Nice poem. I'm not so sure that the mirror is truthful.

Life! Don't you just love it? It is a one way trip without u turns though. I found myself smiling as I read this. You've encapsulated the process very succinctly. Your last three lines are the crux of the matter Well done shells.

All true, so true, too true. But . . . those past days WERE lived, so nothing has been lost, and like a good book on the shelf, can be read and reread. No need to live it again. Despite the obvious southern trend, there is much good to be found in a day, if only in minutes.

I appreciate this.
