Part of the Matthew series, created in 2015, this is about how a star can exist to more but its light can still be seen because it hasn't reached earth yet. I imagined myself to be that light.

The stars that are not

I always shine
But you only see me at night
A million miles away
My light travels to you

I stand-alone
But through your eyes I am not
I am one of many
In this vast wide space

My life may have ended
My light may not shine anymore
But it still travels
To you

It fly's through the darkness
Cascading past other stars
A warm bright light
Heading for you

You see me
But I no longer exist
You only see my light
Traveling to you

Millions of stars are already gone
And millions still shine bright
You now only see my light
Heading to you
in the night.

Kathy Lockhart
Your analogy is done beautifully in your poem. I enjoyed it very much.
