Nose Growing
We sit and discusssuch as
does your nose
really keep on growing
and what shoe size
correctly measures length?
Just appetisers of
conversation,
picked and sorted
like olives,
I like the succulent black ones
but you have a penchant
for the green
and if it rained on the moon,
would an ocean form
and send cascades of rain
that would drench
all the arid and parchment
dried corners of the earth?
We share the spices
the nuggets of conversation
sprinkled and overlaid
a smorgesbord
of nothing really,
it just means something
in a world of nothing
and why are ears
of different shapes
and if one spoke in tongues
what language would that be?
I like the salty tang
while you bring the sweetener
and we smooth the roughness
and line a baking sheet
of inconsequential chatter
that fill us
and overloads the senses
of
I love you
and you love me
as we dip
and smear
and spread
and I don't care
how big your nose grows.
