I've had a cell phone for as long as I can remember and depend on it so much to keep in touch with friends and family. Apparently there was a time when people actually met up and chatted with each other. How absurd.

Remember those conversations...

I've just had a chat with an inanimate
A voice recording to tell me it's so
No conversations, just staccato words
Briefly stating what you need to know

Perhaps I'll send a message instead
Vowels deleted to save sme tme
Remembering conversations we had
That would be now a technological crime

Dependant on being forever in touch
This plastic demon's so precious to all
Talking together's now consigned to the past
Just text me, I can't answer your call!

Remember when conversation was cool
Expressing an opinion was welcomed by all
Now we're too busy to meet up for a chat
Socialising might cause our downfall.

I am old enough to remember pre-mobile phones and internet and it was a different world. Not better or worse, just different. The point you make is true though I think.
