Capturing the Hearts & Minds

in the US alone
a million songs
industrially produced
released each year
more than one can listen to
in a lifetime

to be heard in the media
they must adhere
to certain criteria
mechanically performable
product interchangeable
homophonic & indistinguishable
one from the other

sugar-coated mental floss
not too many chords
no tempo changes
no rhythmic suspense
no sonic demands

aiming to convert
the immature infantilism and idolatry
of trusting child-like intellects
into zombie consumers

like any other business enterprise
50 years of same old same old
creates enormous wealth for some
ask yourself this question:
"when did I last hear anything original ?"

Lawrence Beck The PoetBay support member heart!
Once in a while on the radio, all the time if you go looking for it.

Marie Cadavieco The PoetBay support member heart!
So true. Even the young can see it, but their consumerism-washed brains still keep making the talentless machines super-rich through churning out more and more of the same.
This really struck a chord!
