A beautiful tree cut down unnecessarily, so sad.

Churchmead Cherry

First of April on our street
a cherry tree bloomed,
it's beauty shining.

It began
"The tunnel of trees"
nature had curved.

Subtle pink
spilled across the lane
loved, admired.

29 years for us,
longer for others
passing by.

Our children
picked a branch
one Easter.

Today the 7th of May
blossom gone
tree lived on.

Come morning
the surgeons arrived
professionals with agenda.

Ropes and saws,
machines and ear defenders,
they began

The culling
of stature, nature,
regal it stood it's ground.

Until limb by limb
diminishing
time and elegance shrinking.

All that remains
are the rings of age
And memories.

So sad. You make it sound like an execution, which I suppose it was.

one trick pony The PoetBay support member heart!
You presented this as a clinical dismemberment of something, almost someone, loved generationally. It is tragic.
