you're gone and i'm still here alive

~lyric, lou reed

words on a chilly morning

you're gone   you are definitely gone

your absence stings   then stings again

how can something so empty sting

here comes another sunrise   i greet every one

there it goes   i kiss it goodbye

not you   you're gone   i'm wrapping my arms

around nothing   no head on this chest

no use me   no nothing   you're gone

you are most definitely gone   and i'll tell you

words are cold comfort

and i’ll tell you   words are cold comfort

~

snow falls on cedars

you’re not here to see it

snow falls on cedars

and you’re not here to see it

~

how can something so empty sting

how can something so empty sting

`

I'm beneficially startled by the phrase "wrapping my arms/around nothing," but that's because I can so much relate to it. I wish I could tell stories as you do through poetry. An enjoyable read, as always. :)
