Reminders.

Some memories fight back
Some connections don't obey
the convention and our ways
They linger and they stay
They bring smiles and tears
The gather hurt and pain
to remind us now and then
We don't always hold the reigns

and so it is,
the way it is supposed to be
The impressions in sands
permanently etched, remain.
We claw, scratch and swipe
a future to shape,
Forged from a moment's
worth of dreaming.

But it is only fair,
repercussions that follow
are our own forsaken shadows,
lost somewhere along the path
we treaded together,
In delightful times and merry days.

and so it shall be,
our lives to remain hostage
To that very instance in the grand maze
when our eyes met for the first time
and nothing else then mattered again.
