His melodic words ignited a smile across my face as I watched the morning sun rise to the heavens. His age remained unknown, but I knew he pushed my own digits by two years.
"Keep singing, little boy. Let your song stray into the lonely world above." My voice echoed across the land, stretching miles and miles, beyond my vision range. He continued his harmony. I cried just a little, then faded to the sound of his voice.
By the time he finished, evening invaded the yawning sky. My tears dried on the shores of a distant land, and the boy embraced me with his trembling limbs. "I wish you no harm in this world of black and blue," he cooed, the words spiraling like feathers into my ear. "No tears should be shed for the troubles of man."
