Passover, then and now
The sacrifice of the first born sons
was the tenth plague, the first nine
failed to get the Pharaoh’s attention.
This did, the slaves were freed,
But at what cost to the innocents,
And what cost to the freed? It is
A heavy burden to bear. The weight
Of a leader is felt not by him, but by
Those who suffer his narcissistic whim.
