In lockdown and looking out my window to the hills beyond I caught a fleeting glimpse of a meteor burning through the atmosphere. How I love the mysteries of the Universe...

Catch a falling star...

A lingering moment of awe
In the tranquil shades of night
A pause of breathtaking wonder
In the myriad of stars so bright

A chance encounter with the unknown
I stand still as time did too
For all that is known in Astronomy
its familiarity was something new

A meteor shower streaked across the sky
Of such displays I can never tire
A simple lump of astral detritus
With such power alone to inspire

The curiosity of this universe
In simplistic terms explained
The quest for understanding
Forever in the mind, detained
