beachhouse nostalgia.

You Can't see Anything Underwater.

his brother got lost somewhere
beneath those waves three years
ago and at night when he thinks
i am asleep he cries

-

A seagull is pecking at
A dying jellyfish, pulsing
in the sand. it looks up at
us and smiles.

-

he says there are sharks
when i wade into the water
but i don't know how to
be afraid anymore

-

he follows silently and slips
beneath the surface, tickling
my ankles. i can't remember
what he looks like.

this was really pretty ! i don't know why, but the first part made me think of a song made by "the spill canvas".. anyways, i love that song, and this poem. :)

Wow... This was beautiful. Tragic, but so realistic.

My favorite was the first stanza:
"his brother got lost somewhere
beneath those waves three years
ago and at night when he thinks
i am asleep he cries"...

That is so realistic, that we are afraid to let out our fears and worries and sadness...

Beautiful piece of literature here. Bookmarked.

Sad in a hopeful sort of way.

I hope your beach trip this summer can fix things. Or at least I hope it doesn't make it hurt more.
