lol I'm not sure where this came from but here it is.
I know, I know, it's just how my mind goes, I say back.
Each and every time? ... they whine.
I can't help what is innate for me
My life has always been ebbs and flows
Musical notes and blowing my nose
See what I mean? Even the smallest of things
I have ... the urge ... to rhyme.
Your cadence isn't right, it gets stuck in my throat
They scream, they plead, they insist I adhere
Try something new, try something different this year!
As you can see, I'm not very good at this.
For me it just isn't' right, it doesn't feel original
When I write my stories, I become each of my characters
When I write my poetry, I sing it as a song in my head
And yes, this one doesn't go well with the music inside
Because for me, It just doesn't rhyme.
Yes, I know what you're gonna say
This one DOES rhyme and it's making you cray-cray
Not nearly as crazy as it's making me
Every time I re-read, I want to change everything
Stop it, stop it, stop it already
If this were a test, you'd be failing for sure
Perhaps I should, and maybe I would
if of course I could ... BUT
I read every single nursery rhyme as a child
We had an extensive book collection
They all felt like music to my mouth
A song that flowed with the tempo of me
Do I use that too much? the 'blah blah of me'
Rut roh, watch out, that's my ADHD
Since that's really the extent of my education
I didn't finish High School, and stayed away from college
See that last two lines? They got me stuck cold
because they don't flow in my mind
Ahh, but such is the essence of me
and since I kinda like me a lot
I think I'll just keep the urge to rhyme
P.S I cringe at the thought of this being read by anyone other than me.
So be gentle kind friends and let your silence be the worst critique
you would give. Always with Peace and Love

Urge to Rhyme
