Cathartic

A Good Cry

I cried this morning.

It felt like a sadness

that had been put

on hold

Like a plug in the wall

of a dam

had come undone

and rivers

came gushing out.

Like an irate customer

who had listened to

lift music for

four whole minutes.

Like the crash

of a twenty-two

year-old tree

as it was felled.

Even slightly like

the chocolate at

the end of an

ice cream cone.
