70 degrees Fahrenheit: 21 Celsius.
Just Look Around
Seventy degrees: a fresh south wind
brings bright vermilion petals to the plain,
lightness of step to heavy humankind,
music that pleases a woolgathering brain.
Chestnut Street's alive with sparrow-voices;
college quads are whizzing with frisbees.
White clouds smile down on us, as if rejoicing;
dry pollinated air coaxes a sneeze.
Noontime, New England, on the verge of May:
spring dances barefoot; her unsandalled tread
nudges joy and colour from slumbrous ground.
The image of a lost sun-spangled day
stirs in the heart-soil, rises from the dead,
and grace is everywhere. Just look around!
