on days
on days when i'm up against it
on days when i would gulp down booze
till i forget my own name
on days when self-loathing
oppresses me like august
on days when i miss the woman from college
on days when the universe is dust
when the welkin is curdled
when i forget the alleluias
when i am pitched past pitch of grief
on days when the lonely
when the hungry
when the angry & tired
at 3 am when solace is not near
i need the lulling cadence of the beads
i crave the loving wordtouch of a friend
