Here We Sit
So here we sit,our backs against each other,
our backs against the wall.
Where are we go to from here?
You just don't seem to be in the cards for me.
I know you'd love me if you let yourself...
I know I'd love you if I wasn't so afraid.
I know nothing has to change
except for the revelation of the truth:
so bitter but so perfect,
so searing but so beautiful.
It doesn't have to change our friendship;
I'll love you no matter what.
So here we sit,
you impress me with your many talents,
and I charm you with my uncanny humor.
Here we sit,
desperate to entangle our hands,
to let lips meet,
to let bodies entwine,
but the fear of bearing too much holds us back.
But the truth is, I can feel it coming from you,
I know you're feeling the energy too.
I know you want me as much as I want you...
I just wish you weren't so afraid to let it show.
Here we sit,
embarrassed but completely ecstatic,
both in situations that we're dying to get out,
both just waiting for the other to be ready,
both just waiting... but waiting for what?
How long will you wait for me?
How long must we wait for us?
Face the truth:
you know that I love you.
I don't need to say it;
I can see it clearly in your eyes,
and I know that you see it in mine,
so stop pretending.
Stop acting like it's a big secret.
Here we sit,
desperate to feel this,
desperate to hold each other,
but too afraid to let go.
