Circa 2012, lately and significantly revised.
Spring
I want to be Pope Francis telling the world that mercy is true
I want to be George Herbert writing "The Flower"
I want to be Sebastian Coe running a 3:49 mile
I want to be thirty pounds lighter maybe twenty-five
I want to be Spencer Tracy Cary Grant and both Hepburns
I want to visit Wales where Dylan Thomas lived
I want to introduce Cistercian monks to pinto beans
Darn it all I want to do something interesting
In these thoughts of semi-dissatisfaction
I think of April generously floral
Of warm breezy air not heavy like summer's
Of newly-sprung forsythia brightening the eyes
Put down the books old buddy and stop scrolling
Take three deep breaths and celebrate this life
