A dark future

I no longer see
Gentle breezes sweeping green oceans,
Nor wilderness in a tree
Reaching skywards, swaying in rustling motion.

A green paradise once existed
Where birds sang, beasts were wild,
But now extinction insisted,
For his world of dark death has smiled,
An evil smile.

And every blade of green,
Every rising wave of nature,
All wasted, in thoughtless expression,
To conquer all, to grasp and hold; desire.

And now,
Dreams are our closest trees
And the seas the only field of green,
Instead we sanctify our mind when free,
Upon concrete towers and foundations,
In a dark and littered street,
Under eyes of indifference.
Time has faltered
All sensible explanations.

Brilliant! Beautifully rendered with a constant evolving theme and close attention to a subtle rhyme scheme. BRAVO!

Griffonner The PoetBay support member heart!
A poem that appears to come from a depressed state of observation: One where there isn't a chink of 'hope' to be conceived in the field of vision. It is easy to slip into the abyss of Man's juvenile state of being, and as for an explanation let us 'hope' it is to learn from all this destruction and mayhem... hopefully before it is too late!
