Have you ever been
in a monastery
at Terce
the midmorning pause
from daily labour
when an old monk in a cowl
brings you
a generous slice of bread
from a loaf
he baked himself
& black coffee slowly cooling
in a tin cap of a cup
the bread
still warm from the oven
& not needing butter
