repost of essay. thought it needed another look. hope you take a look.
Took a line that I wrote in comment to someone regarding his/her poetry and let it develop itself. This essay is the result.
What do we do with emotions that dwell just below the surface of expression? Do we continue to hold them hostage like prisoners chained to suppress a riot?
As they seethe there, under our fragile shells, are we
in danger of exploding with rage, tears, or even insane laughter?
Perhaps, we implode into our own destruction that can be either sure and slow or suddenly fatal. Like a pressure cooker, emotions left to stew, only build in strength and power.
The pressure valve must be gingerly adjusted allowing some steam to escape or an eruption of volcanic magnitude will begin.
Whether this takes place inside ourselves or manifests itself outwardly, its flow, like lava, is powerful in its ability to change the landscape of our lives and those of others.
Be ever aware of what lurks just below the surface! Our nightmares of monsters may just dwell in the caverns of ourselves.
Tend to your own cooking, while the stew is in the pot!
