Not the End
I won't begin with the end,it was truly awful
and dark;
I have always liked light
I am like the sapling,
I reach up
and when sunlight hits my face
I gleam and glow
and I know
I know you feel the same.
Or you did
yet you liked galoshes
and sploshes
although you hated
when I jumped in that puddle
your neuro divergent
hatred of marks
and being less fastidious,
you liked galoshes
and on my gosh
you looked terrible in them
with cap and pipe
and a moustache
which I got you to shave,
and the pipe went south
as did the cap
but I never solved
the alphebetising of
cd's, tapes, beta max of course
then laser discs
and who knows what else.
I won't begin at the end
I won't leave off in the middle,
I'll subvert the start
because its easier that way,
easier for me
for those left
scrabbling in the dark,
did I say? I don't like the dark
I like light and fragrance,
I like chaos and disorder,
clear spaces, not clutter
The end is not a place to start
it is a place to go on from,
