Time Isn't Mitigating
Time is not mitigating
If it heals wounds,
it's because empathy has fallen ill
I walk with Polish Jews
on the platform at Auschwitz-Birkenau
Walk with Palestinians on the Israeli shooting range Gaza City
With Ukrainians in blown-up theaters and hospitals
With Russian youths ground down in Putin's trenches
in The Ukraine
Remember myself with my dead cat Izzi in 1994,
and how my girlfriend Sirkka left me in 1985
See a dead songbird by the roadside,
hear a fly stray through November's bedroom
without a future
My being occupied with insignificances
is the sunshine in which the goblins & gods crack
