A Polished Boot

I long to be a polished boot
Worn by an empress absolute,
Or maybe a majestic sandal
Made for submissive hands to handle,
A dangling pump, a loosened sneaker,
The sight of which makes fond hearts weaker.
To be a pair of well-worn socks!
Or better yet, some birkenstocks
Protecting left and dexter foot
From trash and grime, from waste and soot.
More humbly, it would be tip-top
To be a casual flip-flop ....
Oh, any metatarsal fetter!
What in creation could be better?
