Machine
I am a machine
that belches and breathes,
that lollygags and loves.
I am a soft organism seeking solace
at another soft organism's feet.
I am a wrecked boy, grey and dusty of mind,
creaky of bone and frayed of nerve.
Once upon a time, I was sixteen.
Modest and self-aggrandizing,
thirsty and hungry,
I am barely awake.
I am vulnerable. I am teachable.
Let me know where you are.
Let me see who you are.
Tell me how it goes with you.
