MIXED FEELINGS ABOUT MIXED DEMENTIA

So I've finally figured it out
Mixed dementia is what
My body is all about

There's seven stages
Or so I believe
I think that I'm on
number three

Only four more to go
When will that happen
Don't ask me I don't know

I think I saw signs of them,
About eight years ago.
So that should give me,
At least ten more years to go.

Then again they say,
Diabetes takes seven years away.
So I'd better enjoy the three,
That I'm left with anyway.

It's a good job I don't believe,
In statistics. I know that
no one else can fix it.

Unconscious actions we all have,
Are beginning to drive me mad.
If I can't remember streets around,
How will I get to heaven without
a satnav.

Oh and by the way,
I always remembered.
On this day what my dad used to say,
First of may pinch bum day.

It's strange the things I remember.
At least I haven't lost my sense of humour,
With this bless-ed mixed dementia.

I know it must be awful :Being affected by Alzheimer's disease is like emptying yourself of your substance, your content, little by little. only the shell remains
