Last Morning in Milwaukee
in the coffee-flavoured foredawn
I sit quite thankful
fresh flowers on the night-table
orange & purple heads slightly adroop
I sit with five days of clothing
I sit with windchimes chiming
Elena's asleep upstairs
I will try to persuade her
to read me a recent poem of hers
sometime today
as it is Sunday
I will take a Lyft to Trinity
the Episcopal church in Wauwatosa
I will celebrate Milwaukee
and (Sustaining Power willing)
I'll be back soon
