anemia

But look here at what you’ve done -
divided us, diluted us, exposed us
like a blood cell that’s been infected

Before we can even seek to repair the damage,
another cell gets destroyed
Our oxygen repressed, our body holding its breath

Gone are the days when you made my heart -
flutter and dance like a ballerina in a jewelry box
You don’t wind me up anymore, this swan has died

The ship has sailed and my eyes are bone dry
You’ve made them turn yellow like aged books, oxidized
I have no tears to offer you, I can’t even cry
