Viva, Kamala!
Is it Realistic to Hope That the Worst is Over?
I'd be downright giddy if a Lenin of our own appeared,
And revolutionaries swept away our current government,
If all the right-wing politicians, chained together, went
To jail, and oligarchs were stripped of wealth. I'd cheer
If someone put a match to our god-awful constitution.
Sadly, I won't see such things, but, suddenly, it does
Appear as if the fascists' stranglehold has weakened.
We can breathe again, and their contorted, angry faces
Yield to those of moderates, who, honestly, don't offer much,
Not progress, just the status quo. They do, however, smile
More, and their ascendance and their cheer have brought
Some joy to me.
