you can change and decide what would be your next religion or none but you can't change your genes and decide what genes you want to have unless you don't break up with your ancestors...

These are your genes, finally those of your parents and before them, those of your grandparents who decided the color of your eyes, your skin, your hair etc... which determined your community which has its own religion and its own gods... so looking for the origin of your genes by going back in time is like finding the trace of life and before that, the ultimate forever missing piece of evolution ?
