Lesson 33
Being predictable is far, far easier
than being good. Leaning into
the terrible things she says, each action
you make that hurts her, is so much
easier than trying. So much easier
than dying to be the good man
she thought she saw a future with;
she sought to give a chance. But
goodness is a garden: it requires work.
Predictability. Failing. Disenchantment.
These are the tenets of manhood
so easy to sleep in and to be slept with.
I could calm your nerves or rattle them.
I’ll always choose the latter, and when you speak
I’ll contort them to weapons to batter with.
