A Divine Image

    Cruelty has a human heart,
    And Jealousy a human face;
    Terror the human form divine,
    And Secresy the human dress.

    The human dress is forged iron,
    The human form a fiery forge,
    The human face a furnace sealed,
    The human heart its hungry gorge.

And this hasn't changed in the following 200 years has it? "As it was in the beginning is now, for ever" comes to mind. Pragmatism makes me think that maybe the human psyche is nothing more than a counterweight to balance with some utopian race on a distant world where perfection rules.
