Playtime 7

I anticipate being seduced by a mermaid. This is why
I stay away from the sea. Please don't think me
Prejudiced. Truly, I'm not, but I'm wary of trying
To couple with someone whose whole lower body
Is covered with scales, and I wonder how I would
Fare being submerged, since I lack the sea creature's
Requisite gills. Some mermaids are comely. I will
Grant you that, but I worry one's overtures might
Leave me trapped in a world in which I don't belong.

All was okay until the final line, "trapped in a world in which I don't belong." I regret to tell you that you already are! I think those mermaids have been singing those hypnotising chords again, they mess with our heads. A bit like politicians really. [*exits stage right with tongue firmly tucked in cheek*]

We are of the sea and from the sea and it forever calls to us to return. Perhaps your anticipated seduction is your subconscious desire to come home.
An interesting write as always, thanks.
