With some we connect but once and that once may not be enough, so the onus on us is to connect well.

well

Sad news from Texas, just a few hours ago; my first cousin (60) died suddenly, her brother, my other cousin, having passed 30 years ago after returning home from serving in the Gulf War. The last time we were in a room together was in 1978 a few days before they left for Austin. Part of me has shrivelled away. Sorry to bother.

How poignant this is, and how true. The truth is there is never enough time, or that is what we tell ourselves. Friends and family, acquaintances, so fondly remembered, and so far away from our daily lives as to be in another World. I empathise deeply with you on this. I can see it about to happen to me, and already it is too late: Complicated enormously by the blight that is called Brexit. :o(
Blessings and condolences, Allen
