a lockdown poem from 2020, inspired by Banjo Paterson's 'Moving On'

Staying Home

In these strange times, we're staying home

Staying home

When we'd normally roam, now we're all alone

Should friends call or come by

We can't let them inside

And we miss their company while

Staying home

In the living rooms, we're staying

Staying home

Close but still apart, through the phone

When the dearest and nearest

Leave their smiles behind their masks

We long for brighter days yet

Staying home

Though we're all apart, we stand together

Staying home

Through these trials, we endeavour

To keep our loved ones close

In spirit and in heart

Knowing better days will come through

Staying home.

You are quite an observer of human behavior. It's like Staying Home had the answer to why this incident was necessary for the human population to endure and learn how to appreciate the presence of laughter and smiles of another human being.

This reminded me of then; nicely thought out and I liked the homage to Banjo Paterson.

Nicely done. Lockdown was pretty much the same life for me.
Although the panic and stress of the world was sad to see.

Sometimes it is better to keep your head beneath the parapet, just as you describe in your excellent poem. Blessings, Allen
