The End of Humanity as We've Known it

It's simple evolution, friend. Just as, a billion years ago,
Those creatures which had single cells began to be
Incorporated into larger, complex creatures, in the process
Giving up, forever, their autonomy, you and I, all of we
Humans, slowly turn from what we were, self-guided,
Independent beings, into mindless pieces of a larger,
If not greater, whole. You shuffle into work each day
To do what you are told to do by others specialized to lead.
You have no idea what is taking place beyond what corporate
Stooges tell you, and you needn't know. The beast you're

Part of carries you. Helpless thing! No longer human. We've

Evolved into pathetic elements of something dreadful. For
The planet's sake, let's hope that it expires or is superceded
By a better being, maybe one composed of circuits
Etched on silicone.

Hmm, I do wonder if the Earth was ever peopled by self-guided, independent beings. Long way back, I suspect.

We are a fracture of the divine order, I say a fracture, like a fraction—we do not possess everything.
