Raving Madness. Causes: Insanity sometimes causes patients to behave in wild and irrational ways. This disorder sometimes is also accompanied by loud, disoriented speech.

Echoes! (a monologue of raving madness)

Stop!Stop!Stop!

Stop the noise!

I stamp my feet on
the ground
running around
in raving madness

- Echoes of pain
Echoes of fear
Echoes of lust
Echoes of dreams
tainted dreams

Just stop!stop the noise!
The noise in my head!

I throw a vase on the wall
and everything suddenly slows
down...

The time goes backwards
like someone has press the button
reverse

The shattered pieces
of the broken vase
rewind and become one
the vase is back on the table

Echoes echoes echoes echoes
of fear, pain, lust, tainted dreams
noise noise noise
stop stop stop

Silence...

I can hear whispers

Whispers of love
Whispers of hope
Whispers of wisdom...

I feel in peace...
everything is as
it supposed to be...
I take a deep breath

in from my nose
out from my mouth
I see a butterfly in my room
I follow the butterfly...open the door

She leads me to the forest...and dissappears..
I sit down on the grass...the birds are singing
the wind is blowing and the leafs are singing

a harmonic tune...and I hear whispers...
whispers of love, hope, wisdom...
I am in touch with nature...In touch with myself...

I shiver as the cool air tenderly touches my bare skin ...
The kiss of the wind...
I whistle a melody that comes in my head
and stroll through the forest

-The incey-wincey spider
Climbed up the spout
Down came the rain
And washed the spider out
Out came the sun
And dried up all the rain
And the incey-wincey spider
Climbed up again

Ohhhhhhhh my dear...this was just a fabulous read! I have worked with many psych patients, and to have a dialouge with them sounds much like this at times...nothing connected, thoughts askew..yes, you nailed it. Barbie

Oh I feel the madness the loss of all reality in this powerful poem. You have opened a window into the mind of insanity. What a tormented place that is. This is a highly sensational poem touching and opening the readers eyes to see what true madness, mental illness can be. I have personal knowledge through a family member who suffers from schizophrenia that indeed these occurrences do happen without her medication. Thank God for medication! a dynamic write! kathy
