Appreciating God's Handiwork

Rainbows and Butterflies

Rainbows and Butterflies,
Two of God's special gifts,
Of beauty and the miracle,
Of His Majestic Self.

The rainbow, He gave to Noah,
As a coveant was made,
To never again destroy the world,
By water, as He just had.

God sends the rain to water the ground,
The rainbow to feed our souls;
If only we will remember,
Without rain, there would be no rainbows.

Just as mountain-tops follow the valleys,
In our lives, sometimes it seems.
We couldn't know real joy in Him;
If He didn't force us to our knees.

So the rainbow serves a purpose,
But the butterfly, I believe,
Was made for nothing but our pleasure;
A gift of His bountiful riches, you see.

True, it's a symbol of new life,
We can compare it to our own;
When God takes a worm of a life,
And makes a beautiful creation of His own.

From larvae, to cocoon, to glorious flight;
Our lives are much the same.
We're lost, then saved, then someday taken home.
Oh, Prase His Holy Name!

Father, help me see in the butterfly,
All that yu would have me be.
Help me magnify Your creation,
And let others see You in me.
