Where Roses Grow

I asked my God to help me
As I faced a challenge in my life.
He said I will my child,
I'll be your buffer through this strife.
But let me do it my way
For I know what is best.
I'll get you through to the other side
Of this faith-growing test.

But Lord, your way is often long
And hard to understand.
Can you not bring right to all
With just the touch of your hand?

I can my child, and often do
When my purpose it fulfills,
But sometimes the long and hard road
Best suits my perfict will.
Smooth stones make the path easy,
Some places will be an easy go.
But often the thorny path is best
Because that's where roses grow.
