Walking to my car with my girlfriend before prom
To enjoy the day at hand
Before the sun sank lower
Like an hourglass with sand
It was a beautiful day
With a softly calling breeze
The way it played with your hair
Made time itself seem to freeze
Many scents flowed through the air
Like a river running free
But still your vanilla smell
Gently drifted back to me
The wind carried many things
Like small seeds so soft and light
Charming my ears with your laugh
As you watched them in their flight
The sun was out and shining
Lighting up the brilliant skies
Intensifying color
That is sparkling in your eyes
Looking up I saw sunbeams
I counted six or seven
Then there I thought to myself
I caught a glimpse of heaven

A Glimpse of Heaven
Standing outside, love in armTo enjoy the day at hand
Before the sun sank lower
Like an hourglass with sand
It was a beautiful day
With a softly calling breeze
The way it played with your hair
Made time itself seem to freeze
Many scents flowed through the air
Like a river running free
But still your vanilla smell
Gently drifted back to me

Like small seeds so soft and light
Charming my ears with your laugh
As you watched them in their flight
The sun was out and shining
Lighting up the brilliant skies
