Summer Rain (KJC/Nepenthes Challenge)
In my part of the Earth,Summer scorches every leaf,
The hot air rises off the asphalt,
creating mirages on days bleak,
The crops lie ripe and girded in sheaves,
Upon the golden-brown-wheat-fields...
The Koel sings her songs of longing,
The peacock hoots in the green fields,
When the mangoes become red and juicy,
And Monsoon clouds gather over the heath...
And when the very first showers of rain,
Kiss the parched earth's lips in refrain,
My heart takes a leap,
and dances in the rain...
